Exposed to Toxins while in the Service?

The Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022, or the Honoring our PACT Act of 2022, is a law that was signed into effect on August 10, 2022. The law expands and improves the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) health care and benefits for veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances during their military service.

The law includes a number of provisions, including:

  • Expanding eligibility for VA health care for veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances.

  • Creating a presumption of service connection for certain health conditions that are associated with toxic exposure.

  • Increasing funding for research on the long-term health effects of toxic exposure.

  • Providing support for veterans who are struggling with the effects of toxic exposure.

The Honoring our PACT Act is a landmark piece of legislation that will help to ensure that veterans who have been exposed to toxic substances receive the care and benefits that they deserve.
