Programs, eligibility requirements, operating hours, and available funding can change without notice. Contact each organization directly before visiting or applying. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND VICTIM SERVICES

FORT BEND WOMEN’S CENTER

Provides emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, safety planning, and other services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services are available to women, men, and children.

FORT BEND COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE – VICTIM ASSISTANCE AND PROTECTIVE ORDERS

The Victim Assistance Division may connect crime victims with an advocate and information about available emergency housing grants, Crime Victims’ Compensation, protective orders, and other assistance. After reporting a crime, first contact the victim liaison at the investigating law-enforcement agency to confirm that the case has been submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.

KATY CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES CRISIS CENTER

Provides free and confidential crisis intervention, safety planning, counseling, advocacy, emergency-shelter placement, assistance with Crime Victims’ Compensation and protective orders, and court, hospital, and law-enforcement accompaniment.

AID TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE

Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse, commonly known as AVDA, provides advocacy and legal assistance involving protective orders, divorce, custody, and support for eligible survivors.

Provides free emergency shelter and services for people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking.

ABIGAIL’S PLACE

Provides transitional housing and support for working single mothers with school-aged children who reside in Fort Bend County. Abigail’s Place is not a general homeless shelter and does not provide low-income or subsidized housing. Applicants must complete the online assistance application.


STAR OF HOPE – WOMEN AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Provides shelter, meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, childcare, recovery services, career assistance, and case management for single women and single-parent families. Admission is based on availability.

RENT, MORTGAGE, UTILITY, AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE


FORT BEND COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICES

Assistance may include partial rent or mortgage payments, electric, water, gas, or propane assistance, food vouchers, prescription-medication vouchers, short-term emergency motel stays, emergency necessities, case management, and rapid rehousing. Eligibility requirements and appointments apply.

FORT BEND LINC RENTAL ASSISTANCE

Fort Bend LINC uses a centralized application to connect Fort Bend County renters with participating rental-assistance organizations. Applications are reviewed and matched with a participating organization when funding is available.


EAST FORT BEND HUMAN NEEDS MINISTRY

Provides a food pantry and limited financial assistance for rent or critical utilities to eligible residents of East Fort Bend County.

KATY CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES SOCIAL SERVICES

Provides emergency assistance, financial education, food, student support, and limited rent or utility assistance for individuals and families in crisis.

MAMIE GEORGE COMMUNITY CENTER

Catholic Charities’ Mamie George Community Center serves Fort Bend County residents through food distributions, rent and utility assistance, senior services, veteran services, and other programs. Assistance depends on eligibility and available funding.

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL – ARCHDIOCESE OF GALVESTON-HOUSTON

Provides referrals to parish-based assistance programs throughout the Greater Houston-Galveston area. Assistance may include food, rent, utilities, clothing, disaster relief, or home visits, depending on the applicant’s ZIP code and available resources.
